Fireworks Explode During Brush Fire in North Carolina: 1 Dies, 3 Firefighters Injured

In North Carolina, a brush fire killed one person and injured three firefighters when its structure containing commercial-grade explosives exploded.

When an explosion occurred Friday, firefighters arrived and attempted to put out the big fire, according to a news release from Lenoir County Emergency Services.

“Randy Herring” The Man Who Died

According to the announcement, a civilian who was fighting the fire before firemen arrived was gravely injured and pronounced dead at the spot. According to Lenoir County Emergency Services on Facebook, the deceased man was Randy Herring, the owner of the property in La Grange where the fire occurred.

Under Investigation

According to the announcement, three La Grange Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were hurt in the incident and were taken to hospitals for treatment. Two of the firefighters were released, while the third was transported to a burn facility.

According to Lenoir County Emergency Services, firefighters worked through the evening to confine the fire and “completely extinguish hot areas.” The incident is still being investigated.
