Jennifer Lopez is experiencing criticism after saying that she didn’t want to share the stage with Shakira at the Super Bowl.
The duo wowed the crowd at the yearly SuperBowl, with their historic act receiving widespread accolades from audience and celebrities around the world.
Shakira began with a live performance of her 2009 single ‘She Wolf,’ followed by a variety of her chart-topping hits like ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ & ‘Waka Waka.’
Afterward, in the latter part of the event, J.Lo wowed the audience with a slew of her best hits, such as ‘Jenny From The Block,’ ‘On The Floor,’ & ‘Let’s Get Loud,’ which she performed with Shakira.
Despite the apparent achievements of the joint concert, J.Lo was not satisfied with the NFL’s recommendation to include her and Shakira perform along, revealing in her forthcoming Netflix film Halftime that she felt it was ‘the dumbest idea in the world.’
The documentary, which looks back on Jennifer’s lengthy and varied career, opened earlier this week at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Halftime, as the title implies, focuses heavily on Jennifer’s 2020 Super Bowl appearance, providing viewers with plenty of backstage details on how things seemed to be before the show.
And now we know that Jennifer felt upset with the halftime show organizers for providing her as well as Shakira the same period just like any other solo singer instead of tripling it.
To put things in perspective, halftime show performers are usually allotted 12-16 minutes onstage. Previous solo performers, like the Beyoncé and Weeknd, have used the time to medley-style flip from song to song, culminating in a spectacular compilation of their greatest songs.
However, for a concert of this length, it’s not unusual for numerous performers to share the stage. For example, at the most current Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre collaborated to put on a show-stopping performance, with each performer only getting a few moments in the spotlight.
