Mercedes-Benz reveals GLE AMG Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has finally debuted their bizarre crossover GLE Coupe, but the name – might be the most challenging of any 2016 model vehicles. Technically named the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 AMG 4Matic Coupe – the vehicle will see its official debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show. However, to understand the name of the vehicle a pretty vast understanding of how Mercedes names, and classifies their vehicles is needed.

The “GLE” name is contrived from Mercedes new name classification system that they’re using. The “GL” represents the vehicle being an SUV while the “E” indicates that the vehicle is a midsize E-class vehicle. While this vehicle will largely compete with the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz attached the “Coupe” name to indicate that the car is a little more stylish than other models of the vehicle.

However, this vehicle shouldn’t be confused with full-blown AMG Mercedes vehicles. Moving forward the automaker is going with a universal name change for legitimate AMG vehicles. Those vehicles will be labeled Mercedes-AMG, instead of traditional Mercedes-Benz. This though, partially due to the vehicles “crossover” classification, allows the vehicle to be a cross in terms of how the SUV is branded and produced.

This vehicle will see the same engine as the Mercedes-Benz C400, and that will be a twin-turbo V-6 engine, and 4Matic all-wheel drive which is a massive plus for the vehicle. The inside and the outside of the vehicle is styled in a very particular way that ensures the vehicle fits in well with the Mercedes-Benz family, but also competes very well with BMW opponents like the BMW X6.

The vehicle will also feature a sport version that will host a lot of features that otherwise have not been seen in current representations of the vehicle and are unlikely to be seen in the stock model that is released later in 2015.

While the debut will be significant for car enthusiasts and prospective owners of the Mercedes-Benz GLE450 AMG 4Matic Coupe – who should be able to get their hands on the vehicle by mid-to-late 2015. The impact that this vehicle could have on competing vehicles like the BMW X6 could potentially be major – since the vehicle does bring one of the most unique experiences possible.
