Pokémon GO: How to Catch Fidough & Evolve it into Dachsbun (Shiny Available?)

Pokémon GO
Learn how to catch Fidough in Pokémon GO and evolve it into Dachsbun. Find out if shiny Fidough and Dachsbun are available, plus tips and strategies for trainers.

Fidough, the adorable Puppy Pokémon, and its evolution Dachsbun have finally arrived in Pokémon GO! This guide covers everything you need to know about catching Fidough, evolving it into Dachsbun, and whether or not you can find them in their shiny forms.

What’s the buzz about Fidough?

This Fairy-type Pokémon was introduced in the Paldea region (Generation IX) and quickly became a fan favorite due to its charming design – it’s literally a bread dog! Its evolution, Dachsbun, is a Fairy-type Pokémon that resembles a dachshund-shaped loaf of bread. Both are sought-after additions to any Pokémon GO trainer’s collection.

When and Where can I find Fidough?

Fidough made its debut in Pokémon GO during the “Fidough Fetch” event which ran from January 3rd to 7th, 2025. During this event, Fidough was readily available in the wild, appearing more frequently than usual.

Why is everyone so eager to catch them?

Besides their undeniable cuteness, Fidough and Dachsbun can be valuable additions to your battle team. Dachsbun, in particular, has proven to be quite a powerful contender in both PvE and PvP battles.

How to Catch Fidough in Pokémon GO

Now that the “Fidough Fetch” event is over, catching Fidough might be a bit trickier, but not impossible! Here are a few ways you can still encounter this charming Pokémon:

  • Keep an eye out in the wild: While not as common as during the event, Fidough can still spawn in the wild. Be sure to explore different areas and habitats to increase your chances of encountering one. I’ve personally had more luck finding them in parks and residential areas.
  • Hatch them from Eggs: Fidough can hatch from 7km Eggs. Keep spinning those PokéStops and incubating those Eggs!
  • Trade with friends: If you have friends who were lucky enough to catch a Fidough during the event, see if they’re willing to trade with you. Remember that trading requires Stardust, and the amount varies depending on your friendship level with the other trainer and whether you’ve already registered the Pokémon in your Pokédex.

Evolving Fidough into Dachsbun

Once you’ve caught a Fidough, evolving it into Dachsbun is a straightforward process. Simply collect 50 Fidough Candy by catching more Fidough, transferring Fidough, or walking with Fidough as your buddy. Once you have enough candy, you can evolve your Fidough with a tap of a button!

Can Fidough and Dachsbun be Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Unfortunately, as of January 2025, neither Fidough nor Dachsbun can be found in their shiny forms in Pokémon GO.

Many trainers, myself included, were disappointed that the shiny variants weren’t released alongside their regular counterparts. However, based on past trends in Pokémon GO, it’s highly likely that shiny Fidough and Dachsbun will eventually be introduced in a future event. Keep an eye out for announcements from Niantic!

Tips for Catching Fidough

  • Use Incense and Lures: These items increase the spawn rate of Pokémon in your vicinity, including Fidough.
  • Play during different times of day: Some players have reported increased Fidough spawns during certain times, like early mornings or evenings. Experiment and see what works best for you.
  • Utilize your Daily Adventure Incense: This special incense is designed to attract rare Pokémon, and there’s a chance Fidough might be among them.
  • Participate in future events: Niantic often features specific Pokémon during events, so there’s a good chance Fidough will be featured again in the future.

Why You Should Add Dachsbun to Your Battle Team

Dachsbun might look like a cuddly bread loaf, but don’t underestimate its strength! Here’s why you should consider adding Dachsbun to your battle team:

  • Strong Fairy-type attacker: Dachsbun has access to powerful Fairy-type moves like Charm and Play Rough, making it an excellent counter against Dragon, Fighting, and Dark-type Pokémon.
  • Decent bulk: Dachsbun has relatively high stamina, allowing it to withstand some hits in battle.
  • Unique movepool: Besides Fairy-type moves, Dachsbun can also learn moves of other types, providing flexibility in battle.

I’ve personally used Dachsbun in Great League PvP battles, and it’s proven to be a surprisingly effective choice.

While the “Fidough Fetch” event has ended, the journey with Fidough and Dachsbun in Pokémon GO is just beginning. With the potential for shiny releases and future events featuring these Pokémon, there’s plenty to look forward to. So keep exploring, keep catching, and keep training those adorable bread Pokémon!
