UK get ready, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider booking starts with £60k price tag

Alfa Romeo has started taking orders for the new 4C Spider Convertible, in the United Kingdom. The two-seater Spider is available at an astonishing figure of £59,900 making its entry to the £60k club. The new car is built on the same carbon-fiber monocoque chassis as the 4C Coupé. The new Spider also gets an additional weight gain of roughly 10kg than the Coupé, due to some constructional differences that include an additional strut beam over the engine and an aluminum roll-bar.

The pretty little Spider inherits the same mid-mounted 1.75-litre 237bhp turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine from the Coupé, that makes maximum power of 240 PS (176 kW) at 6000 rpm and peak torque of 349 Nm (258 lb. ft.) between 2100 and 3750rpm. A twin-clutch transmission churns all this power to the wheels, which helps the car accelerate from 0-60 in the claimed 4.5 sec and hit the claimed top speed 160mph (257 km/h).

The Spider features the same enhanced equipment offered with the Coupé variant, which include an upgraded stereo, increased leather interior trim on the glove box, luxury floor mats, and a bespoke engine cover. It also comes with a carbon-fiber windscreen surround frame, along with several options for the wheels.

The interiors are also not much different from the coupe and features fabric seats, aluminum trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Other notable features include air conditioning, contrast stitching, and an Alfa Hi-Fi sound system.

The Convertible features a removal fabric roof that is easily stowed away, making the car a suitable option for driving in all seasons. Alfa Romeo also hints a carbon-fiber roof option, which will be available soon. The headlights are the standard projector-style xenon’s, which feature a plastic cover rather than a series of open spotlights. These headlights are also available as an option for the 4C Coupé now.

The 4C Spider also comes with an optional lightweight Akrapovic exhaust system that uses asymmetrical mufflers, a dual-mode valve system with a link pipe to reduce cabin drone and two center-mounted tailpipes, thus minimizing the cabin noise effectively. The customers also get the option of standard and racing exhausts from the Alfa Factory.

The car comes in seven different colors, including Rosso Alfa, Black, White and the most popular, Giallo Yellow. It is currently available with over 100 dealers in the US, with plans of expanding up to 200 dealers by next year.
